How bills work#
- A bill is 0.6% of your house value. It is the value of everything built and placed on your plot.
- Premium halves it to 0.3%. It is one of the perks of the Premium gamepass, along with double daily rewards and choosing your plot location.
- A new bill arrives every in-game week, which is 2 hours and 48 minutes of real time.
- Pay at your mailbox or in the House menu. Or turn on Automatically Pay Bills in the options and forget about it.

Solar panels, and the catch#
Solar panels arrived in update 0.11.6 and were the first way to cut bills without buying Premium or deleting things. Each panel takes up to 20% off, but each one also has a limit on how much it can save:

The limits add up, so two advanced panels can save up to $4,000. The 20% does not. However many panels you place, the discount stops at 20% of the bill. On a small house one economic panel is already enough; on a big one the panel limit is usually what holds you back, which is where the calculator above helps.
Things that do not change your bill#
- Turning lights and appliances off. Only the house value and solar panels count.
- Leaving a bill unpaid. It does not stack into a bigger one, but if you add value to the house while it is unpaid, the unpaid bill goes up too.
- Your pool. Not paying bills cuts water and electricity but does not drain it.
