The short version#
Bloxburg has eight skills that give rewards, each going up to level 10. You raise a skill by doing the thing it is named after, and every level pays out money, with Blockbux at level 5 and a trophy at level 10.
If you only care about one, make it Gardening. It is the skill that locks items you place in Build Mode, including most trees, so it quietly limits what your house can look like.
Levelling got faster in 2026. Update 1.15.0 on April 16, 2026 rebalanced skills, classes and jobs so that levelling is significantly quicker. Older guides and videos that talk about weeks of grinding are describing the old system.
How to raise each skill#

Level several at once
Some activities stack. You can play most instruments while playing a game on a computer, which raises Music and Gaming together (the Classic Piano, Fine Piano and Drum Kit are the exceptions). You can also read a book while playing games to raise Intelligence and Gaming while keeping Fun up. School helps too: classes raise Athletic, Intelligence, Music and Art, and going to school also counts toward your permanent job pay bonus.
Athletic boosts
A Nutrition Bar (unlocked at Athletic 4) raises the points you gain by 10% for a minute, and Protein Powder (unlocked at Athletic 7) raises them by 20% for two minutes. Exercise drains Energy and Hygiene, so have a bed and a shower nearby.
Gardening: the skill that limits your house#
Most plants and trees in Build Mode are locked until you reach a certain Gardening level. If you want pine trees along the driveway or a cherry blossom in the garden, you need the level first, whether you place them yourself or someone builds on your plot for you.

Levelling Gardening
- XP only arrives when a plant is fully grown. Planting and harvesting give nothing, so keep plants alive until they mature.
- Plants only grow while you are in the game. Plant a full batch before a long session, not before you log off.
- Cheap and fast, or expensive and slow. The wiki's current tip is that more expensive plants level you faster. Plenty of players do the opposite and fill pots with Short Grass, which costs $6 and matures in about five minutes. Try both on your own account and keep whichever moves your bar quicker.
- Watch the plot limit. A plot can hold up to 800 plants, and plants sell for less the more of them you have.
What Gardening level real houses need
We record the skill requirements of every build we finish. Of our 68 builds, 60 need some Gardening level, almost always because of the trees and hedges in the garden:

So Gardening 4 covers most houses, and Gardening 8 covers nearly everything. It is worth getting there before you commit to a big garden.
Money from skills#
Every skill pays the same ladder as you level it, so levelling any skill is also a slow income. Across all ten levels that is $60,700 and 500 Blockbux per skill, eight times over.

Skill requirements on a build you buy#
Every build in our catalog lists the skill levels it needs, next to the gamepasses and plot cost. That is not us being fussy. If a garden has pine trees in it, the account the house is built on has to have Gardening 3, or those trees cannot be placed. Check your Skills app against the requirements before ordering.
Bloxburg Builds makes finished Welcome to Bloxburg houses, cafes and estates, and places them on players' own plots for anyone who would rather skip the days in Build Mode.
